What is Brum Tech Tapas?
We are passionate about community and innovation, so we set up Brum Tech Tapas (BTT) in early 2021 to spotlight culture and community around Birmingham and The Midlands. We’ve held three virtual events so far and are looking forward to our first in person when circumstances allow.
Who’s been featured?
Each event features a line-up of speakers from diverse industries and professions. We’ve heard from the likes of street artist Foka Wolf and Birmingham Poet Laureate, Casey Bailey. We’ve also been joined by Angela Kumah, Sophie Watson the owner of The Borrow Shop and John Sewell from Cosimo.art, They spoke about resilience and recovery, environmental good, and industry and identity. Each speaker shared their personal story and their passion for culture and community which mirrors our passion for the community.

We like to promote art, crafts, science,tech and other events that we see around the region through our social media accounts. We love to chat about what’s going on in the community and what community means to us. We’re always on the lookout for great ideas, projects and events, so let us know if you spot anything.
Official Brum Tech Tapas merch will be hitting the virtual shelves very soon, with a competition to win a few bits shortly after, so keep your eyes on our socials to see what we have to offer!
What’s next?
After the success of our first three events, you can expect another in the near future! Keep a close eye out for announcements over the coming months.
Despite our first three BTT events being virtual, we are keeping an eye on the ever-evolving COVID situation to determine whether our next event can finally be in person. We know how much online fatigue has affected us all over the last year and a half, but we hope that, for now, the virtual events have been working for you all and we look forward to seeing you all as soon as we can. We want to hear what you think, so do let us know how we can improve.
