BrumPHP- Fun, Food and… F’talks.

Thursday 28th September 2023

What a night! Pizza, e-numbers, giveaways and a few drinks along the way… oh and the brilliant talks from James Brooks and Joe Dixon! It was awesome to work alongside them during the day and we really appreciated some of the troubleshooting they got stuck into when in the office. They have officially received the seal of approval from resident dogs Flash and Szaru who many of you were able to meet on the night, so apparently now they can visit us again whenever they want to.

The morning after we are feeling tired but we’re absolutely buzzing!

We originally released 30 tickets which sold out with about a week to go. The venue is suitable for up to 40 people adhering to health and safety protocols and in order for everyone to be able to listen and benefit to the maximum.

We ended up releasing a further 2 tickets in the end and had 3 no shows and 3 on the day cancellations (we were able to fill spaces from on the day cancellations from the waitlist) We really really appreciate those who contacted us to let us know that they couldn’t attend and helped us to give as many of the BrumPHP community a chance to attend as we could with the notice period available.

The only gripe was that one of our organisers had to clear up during the talks due almost nobody using the bins provided. So one addition for the next event will be “please deposit your rubbish in the bank of the bin” signs and we’ll be all set next time 😅

We’ve been asked a few times whether we recorded the night. After issues with equipment the last couple of events we decided that rather than letting those who may want to watch on live stream down on the day if there was a technical hitch: we would go back to basics and go in person only for the foreseeable future.

Thank you to all who helped out on the night, to Sammy from The Jointworks for showing us around and being on call in case we needed something. For the lovely cleaner who’s name I didn’t get and to the Jointworks themselves for letting us use their amazing space and for supporting us as ever.

For those who contributed by attending, participating and networking we want to say a huge thank you. It all adds to the atmosphere making for a successful event.

As ever we’re always on the lookout for speakers for upcoming events with the next event at the end of February 2024. You can express your interest here
